The 8th Annual Puentes/Bridges trip
was once again very successful.
We had three farms represented, and
traveled to Xuchiles, Omealca,
Veracruz and to Astacinga and
Tlaquilpa, Veracruz. We were
greeted with fresh squeezed orange
juice, sandwiches, pozole, and sweet
bread. Mark Johnson was able
to reunite with Pablo, his right
hand guy. Mark saw Pablo's
house under construction, and the
windows which Mark had helped Pablo
order. It was also a pleasure
to see Pablo's store in the mercado.
We were also treated to pozole at
Elias' house, as his parents and
sisters welcomed all the families of
the Johnson's Rolling Acres Farm.
It was quite an afternoon.
We also were able to go to the
family of Nora Lindstrom's
employees. Marta greeted us
once again with smiles and orange
juice. WE visited for several
hours, had a tour of Xuchiles, and
left in the rain with gifts for all
the family members back in
Wisconsin.
Katy Clark, producer for PRI's
The World radio show accompanied
us for the Veracruz portion.
She was indeed fun to have along,
and I hope she enjoyed herself.
